Who We Are

In 2001 Mary Ginocchio transformed her childhood home into a wonderful home furnishings and gift shop, the first of its kind in Lexington. Mulberry & Lime is set in the historic Matthew Kennedy House.

Generations of Ginocchios and Buchignanis have called the 200 block of North Limestone home. In 1887 Hannibal Buchignani, Mary’s great grandfather, built his family home and meat market at 219 North Limestone. Mary Ginocchio’s grandmother, Hannibal’s daughter, Elvira Buchignani Ginocchio was born in this home in 1892. 1909 marks the year that he surprised the family by buying the Matthew Kennedy house at auction. Though the Buchignanis resided at 216 for only a short while, Mary’s parents Sue and Martin Ginocchio, moved their family into the home in 1968. For over 40 years the Ginocchios have lived in the home.
